OBJECTIVE: To analyze the scientific productions available in the literature between the years 1995 and 2015 on the efficacy of Behavioral Cognitive Therapy CBT in depressive disorders. METHOD: integrative review, the search was carried out in the databases Virtual Health Health Psychology (VHL), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Electronic Periodicals in Psychology (PePSIC), Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences NCBI (PubMed), Jama Network, Periodicos Capes, with association of the descriptor "depression" with the key words, cognitive therapy. Absolute frequency (n), percentage (%) and organization of data by similarity were used to describe the selected studies. RESULTS: 22 studies were Selected and Analyzed in 50% of Systematic Review Studies, Non-Systematic Reviews, Bibliographic Review and Meta-analyzes, 36.4% of clinical studies performed for individual CBT and 13.6% of clinical studies for CBT in-group. CBT has proved to be effective in several treatment modalities in the perspectives presented by this systematic review. CONCLUSION: Evidence of the efficacy of this approach was found both in cases of recurrence and in remission and reduction of depressive symptoms, as well as in review and meta-analysis studies, in-group and individual CBT. However, there is a need for a greater number of researches with greater accuracy and methodological adequacy to confirm and amplify the results already found.
