RIBEIRO, Lilian C. Prado Jacintho Mendonça; BALESTRA, Aline Gerbasi; NICOLETTI, Êdela Aparecida  y  DONADON, Mariana Fortunata. Spirituality for flexibilizing anxious patient's thoughts and beliefs. Rev. bras.ter. cogn. [online]. 2019, vol.15, n.2, pp.126-131. ISSN 1808-5687.  https://doi.org/10.5935/1808-5687.20190018.

Spirituality and / or religiosity can exert an important influence on several aspects of the patient's life, for example, acting as an important resource on flexibilization of dysfunctional thoughts and beliefs. In this sense, the proposal of this article was to describe the psychological and spiritual aspects in an anxious patient submitted to 19 individual sessions of Therapy in the Cognitive-Behavioral approach (CBT). As a methodology, psychoeducation, questioning of thoughts and beliefs, and interventions on specific maintenance cycles were used. Beck scales were also applied to assess the patient's mood throughout the sessions. The data of this study indicate that in relation to humor, it was possible to observe the improvement of the symptoms of anxiety, depression and hopelessness. In addition, the patient was able to use the spiritual / religious dimension as a coping and flexibilization of thoughts / beliefs in the face of the difficulties faced, underlining the importance of clinical psychologists being attentive to the influence of the religious dimension on patients' lives.
