Psychotherapy is a service that aims to help the person who seeks treatment to overcome difficulties. The purpose of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is to teach the client skills that facilitate the remission of their symptoms and prevent relapses after treatment. The purpose of this article is to present a preparation guide for discharge from psychotherapy based on the principles of CBT in order to assist psychotherapists to promote the maintenance of the benefits of psychotherapy and prevent relapse with their clients. The guide was presented in five sections that make up the treatment in CBT. The material consists of a synthesis of the main strategies and techniques used during the therapeutic process and which help to maintain cognitive restructuring, social and problem-solving skills and the results obtained in psychotherapy. The importance of psychoeducation for the construction of the guide is highlighted, in order to include techniques that the client has learned and practiced throughout the treatment process. The guide is a concrete material delivered at the time of discharge to be used autonomously and continued by the client with a view to self-care.
