Perceptions of adolescents are analyzed around the Ducke Forest Reserve about their living place, considering that all of them live at the limits of the Forestry Reserve, located in the city of Manaus, AM, Brazil. Data were collected using a modified version of the cognitive mapping technique associated with a semi structured interview. The results showed three different modes of perceptive structures of their living place. First, the utilitarian mode of perception was found in 61% of the participants. Utilitarian mode considers the city as their living place, but the forest must give them the natural resources they need. Second, the sectarian mode, present in 27% adolescents, establishes as their living place only the constructed environment, ignoring at all the forest. Third, the integrative mode, found in 12% of the adolescents, characterizes as their living place as a unique space that comprises both the city and the forest.
