A diagnosis is made as to the attitudes and habits associated with the use of information technologies and communication psychology students. The method was based on a mixed approach (quantitative/qualitative). A non-random sample of 200 students was selected to answer the questionnaire on computer attitudes and use of the internet; a focus group with 10 students was conducted in order to obtain their feedback about the content of psychology program. Regarding the use of the internet, it was found that this tool is mainly used as a means of entertainment and participation in social virtual communities. Concluding that it is necessary to develop research skills for the appropriate use of the educational and communication potential offered by ICTs.
