OLIVEIRA, Brenda Lorrenne Dunga de; SALES, Hemerson Fillipy Silva; LIMA, Kaline da Silva  y  GALDINO, Melyssa Kellyane Cavalcanti. Adaptation of the Public Speaking Anxiety Scale (PSAS) for Brazil. Contextos Clínic [online]. 2020, vol.13, n.1, pp.19-35. ISSN 1983-3482.  https://doi.org/10.4013/ctc.2020.131.02.

The aim of this study was to adapt the Public Speaking Anxiety Scale (PSAS) to the Brazilian context. Participants were 667 university students aged from 18 to 60 (M = 24.17; SD = 5.43), mostly women (70.5%). Regarding the factorial validity, through Confirmatory Factor Analyzes, three PSAS models were tested (one factor, two factors and three factors). Only two of them showed acceptable fit quality indices. One ANOVA pointed to the three factors model as the most appropriate. Regarding convergent validity, Pearson correlations showed a moderate association with others anxiety measures. The results justify the use of PSAS in the Brazilian context for research purposes.

Palabras clave : public speaking anxiety; factorial validity; convergent validity.
