ZANETTI, Sandra Aparecida Serra y CIANCA, Geovanna Moreno. Winnicott's psychoanalytic contributions to the clinic with borderline adolescents: a case study. Gerais, Rev. Interinst. Psicol. [online]. 2017, vol.10, n.2, pp.294-304. ISSN 1983-8220.
This article intents to present the results of a case study about a borderline teenage girl, based on Winnicott’s theory and clinical method. The patient had a history of abandonment by her mother, and sought therapy at the age of 14, suffering from thought disorders. The research was conducted through the method of case study, which inside the clinical context is meant to explore and understand the phenomena that are particular to the subject. The main concepts used for the case comprehension were the holding relation and the notion of false self, both proposed by Winnicott. The study of Winnicott’s conception of therapy, made it possible for the case to be understood as borderline, being in fact a case of pathological false self. We believe that the therapeutic progress was made possible through a setting that sustained a "sufficiently good" environment inside therapy.
