Resumen

BASTOS, Antonio Virgílio Bittencourt  y  COSTA, Fabíola Marinho. Múltiplos comprometimentos no trabalho: articulando diferentes estratégias de pesquisa. Rev. Psicol., Organ. Trab. [online]. 2001, vol.1, n.1, pp.11-41. ISSN 1984-6657.

Reflections about the direction and perspectives for research about the commitment to work and related issues indicate the need to consider multiple commitments as a unit of analysis and that new research strategies be used to escape from the dominant model of qualitative studies. This papel describes a study, conducted at two organizations in different industrial segments, that used two methodological strategies to analyze lhe relationships of employees with three factors: organization, union and career. Using a classic strategy, scales of altitudes were applied to the three factors to generate commitment scores. Next, an analysis of clustering was conducted to identify standards of commitment. ln the second step, procedures derived from the theory ofthe central nucleus of representations were used (Abric, 1984; Moliner, 1993) as well as the concepts of cognitive outlines, to generate spontaneous comments about the three factors of commitment under study. Graphic representations were used to compare the results of the two studies, allowing the preparation of cognitive maps ofgroups with similar patterns of commitment. The results are compared, and the congruent and complementary aspects of the two methodologies are indicated

Palabras clave : Organizational commitment; Commitment patterns to work; Qualitative and Quantitative Research; Social Representations.
