Resumen

FREITAS, Rodrigo Jácob Moreira de; MOURA, Natana Abreu de  y  MONTEIRO, Ana Ruth Macêdo. Meaning assigned by healthcare professionals to violence experienced by children. Rev. NUFEN [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.3, pp.134-153. ISSN 2175-2591.  https://doi.org/10.26823/RevistadoNUFEN.vol12.nº03artigo78.

The objective is to understand the meaning that health professionals in a Psychosocial Care Center for Children and Adolescents attribute to the violence experienced by users. This is a qualitative study, based on the social phenomenology of Alfred Schutz. The research was carried out in Fortaleza-CE and nine higher-level health professionals participated. Data collection took place through semi-structured interviews, which were recorded, transcribed, interpreted and analyzed using the theoretical framework. Three categories emerged: Violence against children in psychological distress: multiple meanings, actors and scenarios; Lack of knowledge of parents, school and community about the psychological distress of children and adolescents; Life context and the relationship between violence and psychological distress. It is necessary that health professionals know the biographical situation of these families; carry out interdisciplinary and intersectoral actions with schools; and strengthen the psychosocial network to face violence

Palabras clave : Mental health; Child abuse; Family violence; Phenomenology.
