The study objectives were: determining the characteristics of a sample of informal street vendors, their mental health, their working conditions and correlate age and length of service to mental suffering and verify if there are significant differences in mental suffering between men and women and between married and single. Participated in a cross-sectional survey 40 workers - who answered a semi-structured interview and the GHQ-12. The most respondents have incomplete primary education; they are more than 40 years old and works more than eight hours per day. About 65% believe that their work causes or enhances some disease. The most of them reported their workplace as disorganized, dirty and hot. The number of participants that presented significant mental suffering was 47.5%. There were no statistically significant correlations. It had got observed that the working conditions of informal street vendors are bad and more than half of workers reported that these conditions affect their health.
