The religiosity and the spirituality have always been considered important hang points to people who are suffering and/or are ill. OBJECTIVE: To assess the general Quality of Life (QoL), the health index and the prevalence of minor psychiatric disorders in Catholic seminarians in Campo Grande city, MS. METHOD: It was chosen a transverse, descriptive and comparative study. 68 Catholic seminarians were interviewed using the following procedures: social-demographic questionnaire from World Health Organization Quality of Life-100 and Self Report Questionnaire-20. RESULTS: The QoL's assessment demonstrated to be high in all aspects investigated. Crossing the measures from WHOQOL-100 and the presence/absence of mental suffering, in all aspects of the quality of life instruments and SRQ-20, there was a significant difference, demonstrating that the candidates who had mental suffering were worse in comparison with those who did not have it in all aspects of WHOQOL-100. CONCLUSION: The seminarians' QoL was good and the prevalence of minor psychiatric disorders was not significant.
