This article discusses the articulation between psychological and legal epistemological field, problematising their effects on discourses about the youth in conflict with the law.  The methodological approach is based on the Brazilian national and regional documents related to youth in conflict with the law, as well on bibliography studies directed to this population, a visit to a Brazilian Specialised Social Services Centre (CREAS) and a visit to a male prison in Campo Grande/Brazil. Our analysis is built on the perspective of Michel Foucault in order to discuss the production of imprisonment as punishment directed to young population. As a conclusion, we state the incarceration is used, in the security discourse, as a strategy to manage social questions into an individual perspective.
