Resumen

UBINHA, Paulo de Tarso. Primitive aspects of the mind in light of the Letter 52. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2013, vol.47, n.4, pp.159-170. ISSN 0486-641X.

The author presents the psychoanalytic concept of the primitive mind. He leads us to the hysterical fantasies recorded in memory traces up to the age of six months, to the dream of the Wolf Man, linked to a memory of a childhood scene which occurred at around one and a half years of age, and also to certain screen memories in which arise sensory elements of great sensory acuteness. He hypothesizes that all these phenomena are explained by the notion of signs of perception (Wz or Sp) of the Letter 52. The child's mind works initially in a pre-verbal sensory register, capturing fragmentary aspects of the object and gathering them in thing representations, until the level of word representations is reached when he or she develops verbal language. In the adult mind, the primitive operating mode of the signs of perception continues. Two clinical fragments illustrate this hypothesis: the record of a dream composed by the image of body parts (Case A) and a bodily sensation of cold, associated with the coldness of maternal care (Case B).

Palabras clave : primitive mind; Letter 52; signs of perception; construction.
