SILVA, Marcos Antonio Batista da. Educational inequalities among the black population in Brazil: a sociohistorical context. Psicol. rev. (Belo Horizonte) []. 2020, 26, 3, pp.836-856. ISSN 1677-1168.  https://doi.org/10.5752/P.1678-9563.2020v26n3p836-856.

This article is part of a theoretical discussion triggered off by a research thesis within a PhD Social Psychology Program. The aim of the research was, among others, to investigate the educational inequalities among Brazilian black population. The study highlights the educational unevenness amidst this population, as imparities regarding access to schooling and lack of formal learning. Contemporary literature on ethnic-racial relations and theoretical contributions to educational inequalities were reviewed, in addition to Brazilian legislation. Regarding methodology, Depth Hermeneutics, as proposed by Thompson (2011), was employed, as well as the content analysis based upon Bardin (2011). In conclusion, it would appear that educational inequality among Brazilian black population was subjected to transformations during different sociohistorical contexts from one legislation to another. Official actions taken to eliminate racial inequality, in general, are hovered by an inclusion/exclusion binomial.
