^lpt^aCom base nos conceitos da Psicologia Analítica e de Joseph Campbell, este artigo consiste na análise simbólica da personagem de quadrinhos Batman - uma imagem contemporânea do herói, desde sua criação, por Bob Kane, em 1939, até os dias atuais. Identificaram-se as grandes etapas do ciclo heróico, discriminadas a partir dos diferentes momentos da evolução da personagem, como apresentadas em histórias em quadrinhos, séries e filmes. O foco da análise recaiu sobre as características do herói e tarefas realizadas, ressaltando as transformações ocorridas. A análise dinâmica desse tipo de herói permite uma aproximação dos temas psicológicos correntes na atualidade. A realização do ciclo heróico, tal como formulado por Campbell, evidencia características arquetípicas do personagem Batman.^len^aThis article offers a symbolic analysis of Batman, a contemporary hero image, from his creation by Bob Kane in 1939 up to the present based on the concepts of Analytical Psychology and Joseph Campbell. Crucial stages in the heroic cycle are identified, discriminating the main themes in comic books, series and films at the length of the different periods into the character’s evolution. The analysis focuses on the hero’s characteristics and tasks accomplished, emphasizing transformations that take place. The dynamic analysis of this type of character provides ways for approaching the prevalent psychological issues of our times. The completion of the heroic cycle, as formulated by Joseph Campbell, evidences archetypal aspects of the character Batman.
