ANDRADE, Alline Nunes    ALENCAR, Heloisa Moulin de. Voices of silence: Moral judgment of deaf youngsters and adults on personal humiliation situations. []. , 58, 128, pp.55-72. ISSN 0006-5943.

This study proposed the comparison between the judgment of deaf youngsters and adults about personal humiliation situations. Participants were 12 deaf subjects divided into two age groups: 15-25 and 35-45 years of age, took part. We used Piaget’s clinical method, in a semi-structured interview with signal language. The adult subjects provided more humiliation examples than the young ones. We emphasize among the results, ‘exclusion’, ‘abuse, defamation and calumny’ and ‘impossibility of communication’, situations. The main justifications refer to ‘helplessness’, followed by ‘condition’. Therefore, humiliation was acknowledged and considered by the participants as a common event on their daily life. The data presented may serve as a support for reflection, and for the construction of practices with deaf people, especially on the educational and social environments.
