^lpt^aSão muitas as situações que nos levam a concluir que o amor pode existir sem sexo, mas podemos conceber o oposto? A longa história do casamento revela uma evidente dissociação entre o amor e o sexo, atenuada, aos poucos, a partir da Revolução Industrial. Não obstante, com a mudança dos costumes introduzida pela pós-modernidade, uma nova dissociação entre o amor e o sexo foi estabelecida, na qual o sexo se tornou bem-aceito e amor, principalmente o romântico, perdeu seu prestígio. O resultado foi uma perda na qualidade das relações que o mundo contemporâneo tenta compensar com a valorização da quantidade e da novidade. A esperança é de que, no futuro, o amor possa ser resgatado nas relações sexuais.^len^aThere are many situations in which one is led to assume that love can exist without sex, but can the same be said of the opposite? The long history of marriages reveals an evident disassociation between love and sex, which has gradually lessened since the times of the Industrial Revolution. However, with new habits being introduced by post-modernity, a new dissociation between love and sex has been established - one in which sex became well accepted and love, especially the romantic type, lost its prestige. As a result, there is today a loss of quality in the relationships that the contemporary world tries to compensate with the valorization of quantity and novelty. The hopes are that in the future love can be rescued in sexual relationships.
