^lpt^aEm 1897 Freud recuou frente à concepção de um pai perverso. O pai, contudo, retornou como um déspota em Totem e tabu. Para Lacan, a evitação de um pai gozador também esteve presente na medida em que a lei tirânica foi muitas vezes compreendida pela noção de supereu. Ao pai resta o lugar do desejo e da lei civilizatória. É tardiamente que Lacan vai admitir a presença fantasmática de um pai do gozo, incapaz de distinguir a neurose e a perversão. Assim, neste artigo, investigamos qual é o estatuto do pai para a psicanálise.^len^aIn 1897, Freud stepped back from the concept of perverse father; however, the father returned as a despot in Totem and taboo. The avoidance of a father-of-enjoyment can be also seen in Lacan, since the tyrannical law was often understood through the concept of superego and the father was interpreted as the place of desire and of civilizing law. Lacan belatedly acknowledged the phantasmatic presence of a father-of-enjoyment unable to distinguish neurosis from perversion. Thus, the aim of the current article is to investigatethe father's status in psychoanalysis.
