^lpt^aEste texto aborda o interesse das representações sociais para os estudos que envolvem a mudança. A mudança entendida aqui não apenas na dimensão sincrônica, mas também como mudança através do tempo, e em termos diacrônicos, no interior das próprias representações (Rouquette, 1998), e no pensamento social mais amplo, que expressa modificações na sociedade. Será, neste sentido, sugerido um encontro entre a psicologia social e a história, uma vez que se trataria de tocar o domínio próximo ao da história das mentalidades, acrescentando-lhe o olhar psicossocial^len^aThis text deals with the role played by the social representations in studies of the social change. The latter is seen here as a modification not only from the synchronic perspective, but also from the diachronic perspective, in the course of time, within the representation itself (Rouquette, 1998), leading to broader social thoughts, and thus expressing modifications in the society. In this sense, it is suggested that the Social Psychology and the History should approach in order to meet this challenge, which lays halfway between the 1'histoire des mentalités and psychosociology
