^lpt^aNeste artigo, procuramos examinar os limites e as possibilidades de diálogo entre duas linhas teóricas em psicanálise: a teoria pulsional de Freud e a teoria das relações objetais, representadas aqui, a partir dos desenvolvimentos de Winnicott, apresentando também as preciosas contribuições de Green para o assunto. Se para Green, em princípio, a oposição entre essas teorias não se coloca, mais recentemente esse autor apresenta sua 'teoria dos gradientes' que corrobora com nossa proposta de articular essas teorias considerando a existência de dois níveis de apreensão do Self.^len^aIn this paper we examine the limits and possibilities of dialogue between two lines of thought in psychoanalysis: Freud´s drive theory and object relation theory represented here from the developments of Winnicott, also, featuring the precious contributions from Green to the subject. If, to Green, in principle, the opposition between these two theories does not arise, most recently the author presents his 'theories of the gradients' which corroborates our proposal to combine these theories considering the existence of two levels of apprehension of the Self.
