^lpt^aFrente às inúmeras críticas destinadas aos relatos de casos clínicos, sejam elas internas ou externas ao campo psicanalítico, pelo que esses escapam ao modo de empiria, relato e comprovação científica importados por saberes psi de outros ramos da ciência, propomos a retomada do problema, através da distinção entre dois diferentes níveis de abordagem: o exame em extensão da categoria de gênero literário, enquanto ordenador metadiscursivo, segundo o qual o caso clínico se aproxima do romance policial; e o exame em intensão, através da delimitação da forma literária, que confere estrutura específica ao caso clínico pelo modo de encaminhamento de suas propriedades discursivas e, em especial, a estratégia de inclusão do estranho relativo à prática clínica.^len^aIn the face of the many criticisms aimed at the clinical case reports, either internal or external to the psychoanalytical field, directed at what those reports lack in terms of a scientific methodology of testing, describing and evidencing, imported by psychology from other branches of science, we propose to retake the problem by distinguishing two different approach levels: the examination "in extension" of the literary genre category as a metadiscursive model that brings clinical cases reports close to crime novels; and the examination "in intension", delimitating the literary form that gives a specific structure to the clinical case report, analyzing how it mobilizes discursive properties of that form, and, specially, the strategies of inclusion of the strange related to de clinical practice.
