^lpt^aEste estudo parte do reconhecimento de que muitas crianças e adolescentes disponíveis à adoção são excluídas da oportunidade de serem adotadas devido às exigências quanto ao perfil construído pelos pretendentes, sendo a deficiência uma das características eliminatórias. A análise das informações disponibilizadas nos relatórios do Conselho Nacional de Justiça (CNJ) e a revisão bibliográfica mostram que a preferência dos adotantes é destoante da realidade das crianças institucionalizadas. A compreensão psicanalítica do fenômeno indica que a deficiência compõe o fenômeno do estranho (unheimlich), movimentando fantasias primitivas nos adotantes.^len^aOur study was based on fact that most of children and adolescents available for adoption are excluded from the opportunity to be adopted, because of the profile required by applicant parents, in which disability is not expected. We analyzed the information provided in the reports of the Brazilian National Council of Justice (CNJ) and the bibliographic review showed that the preference of the adopters is disproportionate to the reality of institutionalized children. The psychoanalytic consideration indicates that the desability due to compose the phenomenon of the strange (unheimlich) moves their primitive fantasies on applicant parents.
