^lpt^aJovens privados de liberdade da Fundação do Bem-Estar do Menor de São Paulo - FEBEM por meio da arte - rap, break, grafite - falam de seu universo: a vida na periferia, o contexto em que buscam identificar-se com uma cultura juvenil constituída de estilos, estéticas, consumo. Por intermédio das letras de rap, revelam os impasses da vida, a privação de liberdade em que o poder da cultura institucional penetra em seus corpos, gestos, afetos, movimentos; deixam entrever seus sonhos, fantasias, expectativas para a vida em liberdade. Pela linguagem própria, manifestam seus modos de vida e sua realidade, resistem à segregação e incluem-se numa forma de comunicação para além dos muros da FEBEM, bem como atingem outros jovens.^len^aIn this article, young people who are in custody at a juvenile detention center - Foundation for the Well-Being of Minors (FEBEM) - tell us about their universe through music and art (rap, break, and graffiti). They tell about the life in periphery, where they try to identify themselves with youth culture constituted by styles, esthetics and consume. Through rap lyrics, they show life problems, lack of liberty, reaction and acceptance in relation to this control over themselves, their movements, feelings and personal style. Through their own language, they show their ways of life and their reality, resisting the segregation and including themselves in a form of communication with persons of the same age, who live outside the FEBEM
