LOPEZ, Maria José Rodrigo. An integrative approach to parental resilience: from context to the parent's mind under psychosocial risk. []. , 28, pp.51-71. ISSN 1414-6975.

It is well known that the presence of psychosocial stressors involves difficulties in the parenting role. However, some parents are able to parent adequately even under the pressure of psychosocial stress. They exhibit what might be call parental resilience. Parental resilience is the process by which parents are able to develop a protective and sensitive relationships with their children in spite of living in a environment that promote maltreating behaviors. This paper addressed two main aspects to advance in the study of parental resilience. First, we performed an assessment of psychosocial risk and social support of resilient mothers in comparison to those who showed maltreating behaviors towards their children. Second, we analyze the cognitive-behavioral functioning of resilient mothers in comparison to those non-resilient and control mothers. Finally, we provide some clues for professional work to promote parental resilience under at-risk circumstances from an integrative approach.
