This work discusses briefly the infantile autism, pointing the variety of transformations in its definition in the last years and focusing the understanding of D. W. Winnicott on this issue. We present elements of Vitor's case in order to illustrate important points of Winnicott's theory in comprehending the etiology of the autistic condition.
