MIZIARA, Luciana Azevedo Fasciani ANDRADE, Sônia Maria Oliveira De. The real meaning of Hiv/Sida in the life of kids and adolescents that live with the disease. []. , 36, 90, pp.16-30. ISSN 1415-711X.
This work brings considerations about the meaning of soropositivity for kids and adolescents infected by the HIV/SIDA through their perception of the world under their condition of carrying HIV. It is a qualitative research with 22 kids and adolescents aged between 9 and 18 years old infected by the HIV whose semi-structured interviews occur from the deflagrating question: "How is it to you to live with the HIV/SIDA?" The data were analyzed through the method of the Discourse of the Collective Subject (DSC) and the results are that the interviewees: a) keep their condition of soropositivity in secrecy as a strategy to avoid tackling with prejudice; b) experience fear and anguish against the uncertainty of the future; c) try to act naturally in their daily routine, despite the use of medication, that is made secretly; d) feel resentful of going to the Support House, a fact that differentiates them from the other kids and adolescents. When giving voice to the kids and adolescents infected by the HIV, we can understand what they think, how each of them internalize his/her condition of soropositivity as an individual, and this may support the adoption of strategies of more adequate approaches and interventions to their reality
