GIORDANI, Jaqueline Portella    DELL'AGLIO, Débora Dalbosco. School violence: association with familiar violence, life satisfaction and internalizing symptoms. []. , 36, 91, pp.340-356. ISSN 1415-711X.

The purpose of this research was to study the school victimization among adolescents and examine the relationship between these reports and other contexts of violence, life satisfaction (LS) and internalizing symptoms. The participants were 426 adolescents from public schools in a big city, aged 12-18 years (M=14.91; SD=1.65), of which 62% were girls, who answered instruments about family and community violence, mental health and life satisfaction. Of the respondents, 29.3% reported being victims of school violence. This victimization was associated with reduced LS and increased internalizing symptoms and familiar violence. The results of a Multiple Linear Regression Analysis indicated that being exposed to familiar violence, being male and lower levels on the subscale of LS-Compared Self are associated with higher scores of school violence. The impact of school violence on the development of the adolescents and the social factors associated should be considered in educational actions for prevention of violence among students
