ROMEIRO, Joyce Borges    MELCHIORI, Lígia Ebner. The affective bonds of adolescents in institutional reception: permanences, expansion and ruptures. []. , 37, 93, pp.186-205. ISSN 1415-711X.

The institutional reception is a protective, exceptional and provisional measure for children and adolescents who are in situations of social and personal vulnerability. The Statute for Children and Adolescents states that the primary objective of reception services should be the preservation and strengthening of family affective bonds. Thinking about this issue, this study aimed to investigate how the affective bonds of the adolescent foster are maintained, expanded and / or broken in the context of family, shelter and school. Three adolescents who were housed in an institutional shelter, their mothers, a grandmother and a maternal aunt participated in this study. The co-ordinator of the institution, the psychologist and an educator's assistant participated in the shelter. The school context was attended by a deputy director, a pedagogical coordinator and a coordinating teacher. Two questionnaires, three semi-structured interview scripts and the schematic model of the carpet were used as instruments. It was concluded that the family affective bonds were maintained with the mother, siblings and uncles and that some of these significant people visited the adolescents weekly. In the context of shelter and school, the adolescents had the opportunity to expand their affective relationships. Thus, the adolescents maintained the capacity of attachment, even in an atypical situation such as institutional reception
