^lpt^aA hospitalização infantil revela-se como uma experiência dolorosa para a criança e seus familiares. Diversos sentimentos emergem dessa situação, provocando dúvidas, angústias, sofrimento e dor. Frente a isto, o presente artigo objetivou compreender a representação social que a criança possui a respeito da hospitalização/hospital. Visto que, nesta situação o principal ator social é a própria criança. Para tanto, utilizou-se como abordagem teórico-metodológica o referencial da Teoria das Representações Sociais e como instrumento para coleta de dados o Procedimento de Desenho-Estória com Tema, o qual foi analisado a partir da proposta de Aiello-Vaisberg (1997). Os resultados demonstraram que as crianças se ancoram em duas teorias diferentes a cerca do objeto representacional em pauta, na primeira teoria como equipamento de ajuda, tratamento, apoio e salvação; e na segunda teoria como local de privação, exclusão, sofrimento, punição e castigo.^len^aThe child hospitalization appears like a painful experience for the children and their relatives. Several feelings emerge from this situation, provoking doubts, anguish, suffering and pain. Front of it, the present article objectified to understand the social representation that the child have about hospitalization/hospital. Since, in this situation the major social actor is the own child. For both, was used like an teorical-metodological approach ,the reference of the Theory Of Social Representation and, like an instrument of collecting data, was used the Thematic Drawing with story, which was analized from the proposal of Aiello-Vaisberg (1997). The results showed that the children get anchored in two different theories about the representational object in question, in the first theory like an aid equipment, treatment, support and salvation; and in the second theory like a place of deprivation, exclusion, suffering and punishment.
