^lpt^aAs neoplasias colorretais, constituem-se como a terceira causa mais comum de câncer a nível mundial. Dentre as opções de tratamento a ostomização acarreta a necessidade de uso de uma bolsa externa ao corpo para eliminação de fezes. Este estudo procurou compreender a maneira como pacientes ostomizados experienciam o câncer e o uso da bolsa. Na perspectiva da pesquisa qualitativa e da pesquisa fenomenológica existencial, foram entrevistados 8 pacientes, de ambos os sexos. Utilizando as categorias existenciais de Umwelt (mundo-físico), Mitwelt (mundo relacional), Eigenwelt (mundo-próprio) e Ueberwelt (mundo desconhecido), observou-se que viver-com-a-bolsa implica em ressignificar as relações com o corpo, com os outros, consigo próprio e com a transcendência. Homens e mulheres possuem modos distintos de experienciar a enfermidade. Nesse sentido, urge retornar, nos serviços de saúde, a dimensão do ser que adoece, ampliando a atuação para além da perspectiva biomédica.^len^aColorectal neoplasms, constitute as the third most common cause of cancer worldwide. Among the treatment options, the ostomy involves the need to use a bag outside the body for disposal of feces. This study sought to understand the cancer patients and ostomates experience and use of bag. From the perspective of qualitative research and existential phenomenological research, we interviewed eight patients, men and women. Using the existential categories of Umwelt (world-physical), Mitwelt (relational-world), Eigenwelt (world-own) and Ueberwelt (unknown world), we found that live-with-a-bag implies changes relations with the body, with others, with himself and transcendence. Men and women have different ways of experiencing the disease. In this sense, it is urgent to return, health services, the extent of being that sick, extending the work beyond the biomedical perspective.
