^lpt^aO presente trabalho tem como objetivo estudar as possibilidades de ajuda à família no momento da comunicação do óbito e a dificuldades dos profissionais em falar sobre a morte. Para isso, falar-se-á sobre a transformação da morte em um assunto tabu, os aspectos emocionais da família frente à morte e por fim, como os profissionais lidam com o tema, sempre apontando para o trabalho do psicólogo hospitalar com tais questões.^len^aThis wok aims to study the possibilities to help the family at the moment of notification of death, and the difficulties of professionals to talk about it. It will be present the transformation of death in a taboo issue, the emotional aspects of family, and how professionals deal with this subject, by the view of heath psychologists.
