^lpt^aEsta pesquisa teve por objetivo compreender de que forma o transplante cardíaco interfere na perspectiva de futuro dos adolescentes e de suas mães. Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo-exploratório realizado com 09 adolescentes transplantados e suas mães. Utilizou-se para efeito de coleta de dados uma entrevista aberta e a técnica da linha do tempo. Foi possível identificar que, enquanto para os jovens a perspectiva de futuro é incerta, para as mães é inexistente, e que a vivência psíquica associada a uma cardiopatia é a de um sofrimento conjunto e intenso da mãe e do adolescente. Observou-se ainda que, após o transplante, as mães não retomam suas atividades cotidianas, dedicando-se integralmente aos cuidados e à vida do filho. Conclui-se que o transplante na vida do jovem gera grande impacto emocional, particularmente no que se refere à construção da identidade, definição da imagem corporal e conceito de normalidade.^len^aThis research aimed to understand how the heart transplant interferes with teenagers' future prospects and their mothers. This is a qualitative-exploratory study performed with 09 transplanted teenagers and their mothers. An openly interview and a timeline technique were used for the purpose of data collection. It was possible to identify that while the future prospect is uncertain for the youngs, it is non-existent for the mothers, and that the psychic experience associated with a cardiopathy is a shared and intense suffering of the mother and the teenager. Futhermore, it was observed that mothers do not get back to their everyday activities after their child's transplant, dedicating themselves wholly to the child care. It was concluded that the transplant in the young's life generates large emotional impact, especially regarding the identity building, body image definition and normality concept.
