^lpt^aNeste artigo analisamos o papel do profissional de saúde diante dos pacientes sob cuidados paliativos oncológicos. Uma visão protocolar é revisada, associada à ponderação das singularidades identificadas em cada situação. Procura-se analisar questões como o grau de mediação da equipe de saúde nas internações hospitalares e o lugar da escuta das singularidades de cada caso, com suas consequentes incidências sobre os recursos oferecidos pelo saber estabelecido, objetivando a melhoria dos atendimentos realizados. Através da contemplação dos principais sintomas apresentados e da relação das características referentes a esse período, foi possível traçar linhas de conduta introduzidas e mantidas pela equipe de saúde, fornecendo condições para que o sujeito possa tomar um lugar na própria vida, resgatando sua biografia diante o inexorável fim que se aproxima.^len^aThe role of the health professional in the context of oncological palliative care is studied, emphasizing the evaluation of the subject and the assistance related to desires, pain and suffering, in their last moments of life. Issues as the degree of mediation of the health team during hospitalization and listening to each case peculiarities, with its consequent impact on the resources usually offered, are analyzed, aiming the improvement of treatment. Through the contemplation of the main symptoms presented, which meaning transcend their regular biological effect and relate exquisitely to this period, it was possible to change the approach of the health team, providing conditions so that the subject can take control of his life, rescuing his biography before the inexorable end that approaches.
