^lpt^aO ingresso nos Sistemas de Ensino Superior caracteriza-se como uma etapa importante, de modo que tem sido objeto de muitos estudos quanto à repercussão na vida dos estudantes. O estudo teve como objetivo investigar acerca da prevalência de Transtornos Mentais Comuns (TMC) e fatores associados em estudantes de Psicologia de uma instituição federal de ensino superior. Trata-se de um estudo transversal, com caráter descritivo-exploratório. Participaram 261 estudantes de todos os períodos do curso. Os dados foram coletados com base no questionário sócio acadêmico e para o rastreamento de TMC utilizou-se o Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20). Com base na estatística descritiva, a partir do teste qui-quadrado, a análise indicou elevada prevalência de TMC nessa população (60,2%), com destaque para os seguintes fatores associados: gênero, custo de vida, adaptação à nova cidade de moradia, desempenho acadêmico, satisfação com a escolha do curso, não participar de atividades esportivas e recreativas, dentre outros. O estudo é um importante recurso para fomentar ações e políticas institucionais de prevenção no campo da saúde mental, por parte da assistência estudantil, assim como serviços de apoio psicológico a esses estudantes.^len^aEntry into Higher Education Systems is characterized as an important stage, so it has been the object of many studies regarding the repercussion in the lives of students. The study aimed to investigate the prevalence of Common Mental Disorders (CMD) and associated factors in psychology students of a federal higher education institution. It is a cross-sectional, descriptive-exploratory study. There were 261 students from all periods of the course. The data were collected based on the socio-academic questionnaire and the Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20) was used for TMC tracking. Based on descriptive statistics, based on the chi-square test, the analysis indicated a high prevalence of CMT in this population (60.2%), with emphasis on the following associated factors: gender, cost of living, adaptation to the new city of housing, academic performance, satisfaction with the choice of course, not participating in sports and recreational activities, among others. The study is an important resource to foster institutional actions and policies of prevention in the field of mental health, on the part of student assistance, as well as psychological support services to these students.
