^lpt^aO presente estudo percorre a obra cultural freudiana, especialmente seus escritos sobre a moral, a religião, o discurso da ciência e a guerra, argumentando sobre sua eficácia como instrumento analisador de acontecimentos culturais postos na modernidade. Nesse sentido, assinala a condição humana descrita pela psicanálise e o antagonismo próprio ao encontro do sujeito com a cultura, reconstituindo a crítica aos ideais de plenitude e bem viver veiculados pela instituição religiosa e atualizados radicalmente via discurso da ciência. Desse modo, argumenta sobre a ascensão do saber científico à forma exclusiva de acesso à verdade e a visão de homem que ele faz emergir quando disponibiliza um arsenal tecnológico e técnico como oferta de poder e satisfação absolutos para o humano. Contra a promessa ingênua de uma felicidade sem tensões que comparece em ditos ideais, o estudo remete ao mal-estar imanente à proposição de sujeito psicanalítica; opta pela análise da guerra como acontecimento cultural que reafirma a força destrutiva da "pulsão de morte" e aponta para o caráter trágico do saber analítico. A reflexão permite acessar uma instigante leitura da cena cultural moderna, concluindo por demonstrar a potência crítica da proposição ética engendrada pela psicanálise e acenando para a pertinência desse aparelho teórico como instrumento analisador de fatos sociais em processo no contemporâneo.^len^aThe present study examines the Freudian cultural work, especially his writings on moral, religion, the discourse on science, and war, arguing about their efficacy as instruments of analysis of the modern cultural events. Along these lines, it signalizes the human condition described in psychoanalysis and the antagonism pertaining to the individual's encounter with culture, reconstituting the criticism to the ideals of plenitude and wellbeing, which are disseminated by the religious institution and radically confirmed through the discourse on science. Thus, it argues about the rise of scientific knowledge as being the exclusive form of access to truth and the vision of man that emerges from this knowledge when it offers him a technological and technical arsenal as the means for him to reach absolute power and satisfaction. Against the naïve promise of a happiness without tensions that these ideals present, the study refers to the uneasiness that is immanent to the psychoanalytic proposition of subject. It chooses to analyze war as a cultural event that reaffirms the destructive force of the "death impulse" and points to the tragic character of analytical knowledge. The reflection allows for an instigating reading of the modern cultural scenario, ending by demonstrating the critical power of the ethical proposition engendered by psychoanalysis and pointing to the pertinence of this theoretical apparatus as an instrument for analyzing the social facts that are in process in the modern world.
