^lpt^aO presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar, nas suas linhas essenciais, dois discursos utilizados por Freud na interpretação do fenômeno religioso. O primeiro é inspirado na ideologia iluminista, que dominou o mundo acadêmico alemão na segunda metade do século XIX e tem uma tonalidade nitidamente cientificista; o outro interpreta, sob a perspectiva da teoria psicanalítica, as motivações psíquicas da experiência religiosa, principalmente no que se refere aos exercícios religiosos, à psicogênese do fenômeno religioso e à natureza ilusória da experiência religiosa. Na dinâmica de um pensamento dialético, os dois discursos de Freud ajudam-nos a melhor compreender a sua posição ambivalente diante da religião.^len^aThe present article has the objective of analyze, in the essential lines, two speeches used by Freud in the interpretation from the religious phenomena. The first one is inspired in the illuminist ideology, which dominated the Germanic academic world in the second half of the XIX century, and has a clearly scientificist tonality; the other one interprets, with the psychoanalytic theory perspective, the psychic motivations from the religious experience. Both speeches aid a better understanding of ambivalent position by Freud in front of the religion.
