Williams Syndrome (WS) is caused by hemizygous gene microdeletion in 7q11.23 region. People with WS have intellectual disability (ID), visuospatial, attentional and inhibitory control prejudices but good performance in expressive language and excessive sociability. Children with ID demand management strategies that can affect family relationships and caregivers’ mental health. Social-emotional and psychoeducational support groups have been used to reduce the incidence of these problems. This study evaluated the effects of group intervention on anxiety, depression and stress indicators in eight parents of children and adolescents with WS. The study was conducted in three phases: pre-intervention assessment; implementation of social-emotional support program and post-intervention assessment. It was observed the reduction of anxiety, depression and stress indicators in many participants. In addition, the group reflections were important to realize alternative and more effective coping attitudes.
