INTRODUCTION: Patients with Cerebral Palsy (CP) classified as level V on Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS), have hip disorders which often require surgery. After surgeries hip pain is common, making hygiene, food and clothing difficult. Aquatic physical therapy is one of the therapeutic modalities that may help in analgesia process. OBJECTIVE: To verify the influence of aquatic therapy on hips analgesia in post-operative patients with CP and the influence on hygiene, clothing and feeding activities. METHOD: It was a retrospective study. A total of 137 medical records and 6 patient charts containing information on the sex, age, type of surgery, rehabilitation time and information regarding pain, hygiene, clothing and feeding were used, using the Visual Analogue Scale, after intervention in the Aquatic Physiotherapy. RESULTS: Patients mean age was 9.3 ± 3,0 years and 80% were submitted to bone and soft tissue surgical procedures. Average rehabilitation time of 4 ± 0,9 months. According to parents opinion, pain decreased (p = 0,034), hygiene (p = 0,034) and clothing (p = 0,057) were easier after intervention. CONCLUSION: Aquatic physical therapy promotes important analgesia in patients with CP classified as level V on GMFCS, hygiene and clothing were facilitated post-intervention.
