COELHO, Maria Teresa Ruas. Work to live? Work as a necropolitical mechanism in the context of the pandemic. []. , 21, 51, pp.376-389. ISSN 2175-1390.

We live in a time of global and coordinated threat of illness and death by the new coronavirus. More than ever, death lurks and subordinate human life, determining our hygiene habits, our routines, our works, our psyche, our freedom to come and go. For some people this is not a completely new reality: those placed on the other side of the line that divides which lives must be protected from which lives are expendable. The unequal proportion and severity with which the pandemic affects some social groups, which are located at an easily identifiable crossroads between race and class is, in fact, a consequence of the neoliberal necropolitics that predates the current context. These are announced deaths. From the perspective of work, we seek to offer some preliminary observations on the points of contact between necropolitics, neoliberalism and the new coronavírus.
