MIRANDA, Elisabeth da Rocha. Transexuality and the formulae of sexuation. []. , 30, pp.91-99. ISSN 1676-157X.

In this work we discuss the transsexual's position as opposed to the capitalist discourse and science. We question the transsexual's position before the possibility of body change made possible by new surgical techniques and ask: in a time prior to this surgical offer, were not there transsexual subjects? As stated by Lacan, the offer creates the demand and the outcome of these interventions, on the one hand, do not free the neurotic subject of castration, which is symbolic, and marks a structural mismatch between body and social gender and, on the other hand, do not operate the castration for a psychotic subject either, although in some instances it may function as a replacement.

: Transexuality; Capitalist discourse; Science castration.
