The present article develops some articulations between the social phenomenon of the body culture in the consumption society and the art exhibition entitled “Spoken Selfportrait” that contemplates and, simultaneously, plays with the processes around the construction of the auto image. It is the article’s intention to analyze the extremely contemporary aspects of this display, very tuned with the processes of construction of modern subjectivities, where the body assumes a prominence place. Having observed that a lot of women didn’t face this experience only as a game the author discusses the imprisonment of one’s own image in incompatible aesthetic ideals. Under those circumstances the body (and its portrait) becomes extremely persecutory to some of those women.
