^lpt^aA Junção teatral no imaginário de Mallarmé, não pode ser compreendida separadamente à da dança. Ê através da relação com a exterioridade que a inferioridade se apreende. A cisão metafísica tradicional é questionada quando, na figura da bailarina, "anjo-mulher", a esfera celeste e a terrestre se interpenetram: mulher e idéia, oferta e recusa, ela é a metáfora do Polemos Heraclitiano ou da unidade concebida enquanto "luta dos contrários". O "entreaberto" e o "entrevisto" celebram o "estar em suspenso", noção dialética que percorre todo o seu imaginário. Analogamente, na esfera teatral, o ator se possuí somente após passar pela dispersão do olhar múltiplo que é o público. O teatro só existe nesta relação de reciprocidade. Tempo de oscilação, o teatro (juntamente com a dança) traça uma espiral ascensional, deslanchando um gesto perpétuo de fuga de um centro imóvel. É a proposta de Mallarmé através de uma Estética da "ambivalência".^len^aThe function of theater, in the imaginary of Mallarmé, can not be understood separately from that of dance.
