^lpt^aConsiderando o processo existencial como um desenvolvimento contínuo em cada sujeito, cujas implicações subjetivas se constroem de acordo com a interação com o seu ambiente sociocultural, o presente trabalho tem o objetivo de fomentar reflexões acerca do desafio enfrentado por pais de adolescentes na família contemporânea. Sendo assim, seguindo revisão de literatura narrativa, procurou-se dados sobre a definição de família, do seu processo evolutivo e buscando entender como se estabelece a sua função social. Posteriormente, apresentou-se algumas características comportamentais do adolescente, as quais, em determinados contextos demonstram apelo por orientação dos pais, cujo papel, logo em seguida, fora discutido. Compreende-se, pois, que o diálogo entre pais e filhos baseado no afeto e no respeito é essencial para o sucesso da relação parento-filial, visto que através do equilíbrio e harmonia inter-relacional, os pais assumem com efetividade a função de educar.^len^aTaking into account the existential process as a continuous development of each subject, whose subjective implications are built according to the interaction with his or her social and cultural environment, the present work highlights the challenge faced by adolescents’ parents in the contemporary family, aiming, thus, at promoting contemplation. So, following the review on narrative literature, data over the definition of family has been researched, of its evolutionary process and trying to understand how its social function is established. Later, some adolescent’s behavioral characteristics were presented, which in specific contexts they convey the need for guidance from the parents, whose roles were afterwards discussed. It’s understood, for this reason, that the need for a dialogue between parents and kids based on tenderness and respect is essential to the success in their relationship, since that through inter relational harmony and balance the parents take over the function of educating effectively.
