The article presents a theoretical discussion on cognition and values, point out the symmetrical, complementary and integrated relation of the structural and cultural aspects of the human comprehension focused on the subject and its community of life. From the point of view of anthropology of knowledge, the concern is the human condition, that is, the simultaneity of biological and cultural aspects in the cognitive processes that lead to knowledge. The proposal is that education assumes the recursivity of the aspects of cognition and values in the construction of strategies of learning and teaching at school.
