This article problematizes the position of Police Psychologist, pioneer in the civil police of the province of Santa Catarina, focusing on the approach of a Legal Social Psychology in this field of action. This perspective places emphasis on human rights, on the community, on aspects of citizenship, prevention and reduction of the judicialization of social relations. As a result of an agreement between the University and the Secretary of Public Security of the State of Santa Catarina, interns from the bachelor in Psychology were placed in the commissariats for the Protection of children, adolescents, women and elderly of the metropolitan region of Florianópolis. From the experiences of these students, it is sought to clarify how the practices in an organization such as the specialized commissioner can dialogue with the proposal of a Legal Social Psychology, using gender and violence as categories of analysis.
