For women, in contemporaneity, thinness is the most desired pattern and the media has a preponderant role in its (re)production. This research had the objective of understanding the relationships established between the social representations of beauty and health, the socially constructed beauty patterns and the bodily practices adopted by women. To obtain this objective, a questionnaire was made available on a digital platform and shared on Facebook. 130 women aged between 17 and 62 years and mean age of 29.9 years answered the research. The data were analyzed through lexicographic analysis and descriptive and relational statistics. It was possible to verify that the media beauty pattern, which values the lean body, is related to the social representations of health and beauty; being that the search for lean body occurs through the adoption of food diets.
