^lpt^aO interesse sobre a relação entre o bem-estar subjetivo (BES) e outros construtos tem aumentado nas últimas três décadas. Neste sentido, buscou-se verificar o poder de predição das dimensões do locus de controle (LC) - interna (LCI), externa (LCE) e afiliativa (LCA) - acerca do BES em 629 estudantes de uma universidade pública do nordeste brasileiro. Utilizaram-se as Escalas de Satisfação com a Vida, dos Afetos e de Satisfação com Áreas da Vida, para mensurar o BES, e a Escala de Locus de Controle. Verificou-se que o nível de BES desses jovens pouco oscila conforme o controle adotado. A fraca predição existente refere-se apenas ao LCI - o controle é atribuído ao próprio indivíduo - e ao LCA - o controle deve-se a outros indivíduos. O LCE, em que o controle é atribuído ao acaso, não prediz tal construto. Mesmo levando em conta que o BES não mostra relação com o LCE, os estudantes da UFPB apresentam, como predominante em suas vidas, essa dimensão do locus de controle.^len^aThe interest on the relationship between the subjective well-being (SWB) and others constructs increased in the last three decades. In this way, aimed it to verify the predictive power of the dimensions of the locus of control (LC) - internal (LCI), external (LCE) and affiliative (LCA) - concerning the SWB in 629 students of one public university in Brazilian Northeast. It used the following scales: Life Satisfaction, Affects and Life’s areas satisfaction, to measure the SWB, and the Locus of control. It was verified that the level of SWB of these young do not oscillated according to the adopted control. The weak prediction that was found it refers only to the LCI - the control is attributed to the individual - and to the LCA - the control must it to other individuals. The LCE, in which the control is attributed at random, does not predict such construct. Even taking into account that the BES shows no relationship with the LCE, students of UFPB present, as predominant in their lives, this dimension of the locus of control.
