^lpt^aEste estudo pretende apresentar os resultados de uma revisão bibliográfica abrangendo o período entre 1996 e 2001 sobre o tema comprometimento no trabalho, com foco especial nos estudos empíricos engendrados em nível nacional e, ainda, sintetizando a pesquisa de ponta (state of the art)em nível internacional. Foram consideradas as publicações dos periódicos das áreas de psicologia organizacional e administração classificados com menção A pela CAPES entre 1996 e 2001, bem como os anais do ENANPAD no período de 1998 a 2001. Por fim, introduziu-se uma apreciação da produção científica nacional analisada suplementada com uma breve comparação com a última revisão nacional realizada sobre o tema, o que permitiu o delineamento de sugestões para pesquisas futuras. Os principais resultados apontaram o pujante crescimento dos estudos sobre comprometimento, destacando-se a premência de se realizar pesquisas que integrem as múltiplas bases e focos do construto e combinem diferentes perspectivas metodológicas para se entender o tema com maior propriedade.^len^aThis study aimed to show the results of a literature review about commitment at work concerning the 1996-2001 period, focusing mainly on the national production of scientific studies, and also summarizing the international state of the art. The study included periodicals from the areas of management and organizational psychology graded with mention "A" by CAPES and the annals from ENANPAD in the 1998-2001 period. Moreover, it presents an assessment of the national scientific production, supplemented by a short comparison with the latest national review, which gave place for suggestions to future researches. The main results have pointed out the vigorous growth of studies in this field, particularly the need to develop researches that integrate the multiple basis and focus of the construct and combine different methodological perspectives in order to properly understand the issue.
