ZAMORA, Júlia Carvalho et al. Vicarious and secondary trauma in work with violence: scope review. []. , 22, 2, pp.2002-2010. ISSN 1984-6657.  https://doi.org/10.5935/rpot/2022.2.22049.

The study aimed to analyze the current empirical production on vicarious and secondary trauma in professionals who provide services to people who have suffered interpersonal violence. We sought to identify how phenomena are conceptualized, how they have been investigated and the main findings in the literature. The following descriptors were used: "vicarious trauma" OR "working with trauma" OR "secondary trauma" AND "violence" OR "interpersonal violence" OR "abuse" OR "maltreatment". The final sample consisted of 25 articles. Each of the studies had their objectives, methods and results mapped. The results showed that the studies were predominantly from the global north and the target audience consisted mostly of health professionals. The research focuses on understanding the phenomena, with little production of assessment and intervention tools. Organizations should invest in the identification of protective and risk factors, and in the development of effective interventions to support professionals and safeguard their mental health.

: psychic trauma; violence; occupational health.
