^lpt^aEste ensaio pretende confrontar algumas das ideias de Giorgio Agamben e de Michel Foucault no que diz respeito à politização da vida na modernidade. Com este intuito, são analisadas, inicialmente, as modalidades de gestão política da vida propostas por Foucault – anátomo-política dos corpos e biopolítica da população. Em seguida, são discutidas as relações entre soberania e biopolítica propostas por esses autores. Finalmente, explora-se a noção de vida nua proposta por Giorgio Agamben para acoplar soberania, instituída na atualidade pela normalização do estado de exceção, e biopolítica, que se converte em tanatopolítica.^len^aThis essay intends to confront some of the ideas of Giorgio Agamben and Michel Foucault with regard to the politicization of life in modernity. With this in mind, we analyze, initially, the modalities of political management of life proposed by Foucault – anatomical-political bodies and biopolitics of the population. Next, the relations between sovereignty and biopolitics proposed by these authors are discussed. Finally, the notion of bare life proposed by Giorgio Agamben is explored to couple sovereignty, established at present by the normalization of the state of exception, and biopolitics, which becomes tanatopolitics.
